Extremely durable washer. Speed Queen came highly recommended by my appliance dealer. I'm tired of buying appliances that only last a year....like my last Maytag washer that rusted out after one year's use and was told by Maytag there was nothing they could do about it, just buy a replacement! So much for the Maytag repairman. I wanted commercial quality, and I got that with Speed Queen!

Nice that I can get to and clean the filter myself. I wish the drum was larger. She really miss the fresh hold option that would tumble and blow air on clothes until I got them out.

Disappointed so far - six months old

Like most of you, I read many reviews and visited multiple stores prior to purchasing. The Speed Queen was touted as bulletproof and more durable and reliable than anything out there. Also, significantly more expensive...almost double. But, at the time of purchase, I thought it would be worth it. The cleaning and drying has been fine. The clothes don't spin dry as much as I thought they would, resulting in slightly longer dry times, but that hasn't been a big deal. My big disappointment was when the washer failed due to some sort of faulty circuit board. I purchased in January, 2017 and it just broke. I noticed it over the weekend, and my retailer, Standard TV & Appliance, is only open for a few hours on Saturday mornings (service dept.). Thus, I had to wait until Monday to call them and couldn't get a service appointment until Wednesday. The guy was very nice, but couldn't diagnose the error on his own and had to call Speedqueen's support line. They figured out the problem and realized the part I needed is in Sacramento. It takes four days to get the part to Portland, Oregon, thus, at best, I'll be without a working washing machine for almost two weeks. I think I'm most crushingly disappointed because I feel like the reliability claims were overstated. Also because of the slowness of the fix. There's not much I can do...it's sort of a helpless feeling. Too late to return it and start over. Laundromats are not cheap in Portland. $5.50 for a load of wash and about a $1.50 for drying, plus detergent, so I'll spend about $45-$60 while my washer's down for the count. I won't be recommending the Speed Queen brand any longer and I'm very disappointed in the service response of Standard. Both companies have the feel of zero accountability and a sort of shrug of the shoulders. Maybe our washer works, maybe it doesn't. We don't really care all that much. You'll get the part as soon as we send it via the cheapest possible delivery service available. I'll probably just go to a big box retailer next and save some money, given that there's no real extra value with the Standard service.
